Prescription Services & Assistance
Medications can be expensive. If your doctor prescribes a medication you can’t afford, Community Health Free Clinic may be able to help.
You must have a current prescription from a doctor to use our services.
Prescription Services
Our prescription services program provides short-term medications. These are medications that help with temporary problems, like strep throat or a sprained ankle. We also have some medications to help with chronic conditions, like diabetes.
Who Can Use Prescription Services?
You can use our prescription services if you:
- Are a patient at Community Health Free Clinic, or
- Have a prescription from another doctor and can’t afford your medications
Medications We Do NOT Provide
We do not store or distribute certain types of medications. These include:
- Opioids (narcotics)
- Depressants
- Stimulants
How to Get Your Medication
You may get medicine that’s prescribed during your walk-in visit.
Or, ask your doctor to fax us your prescription. Our fax number is 319-363-5569.
Medication Refills
If you need a refill for your medication, call 319-363-0416 during clinic hours. To make sure you don’t run out of medicine, call when you have 7 days of medicine left.
Have the following items ready when you call:
- Your name, date of birth and phone number
- Prescription (Rx) number (you’ll find it highlighted in yellow on your medicine bottle)
- Medication name
Prescription Assistance Program (PAP)
Do you need help affording medicine to manage a chronic (long-term) disease? We can help you find and apply for prescription assistance programs, or PAPs. PAPs are offered by pharmaceutical companies. They provide free or low-cost prescription medications. You must meet certain qualifications to receive medicine through a prescription assistance program.
